Ah, it’s that time of the year again.

Labor Day is upon us, and it’s already the end of summer!

It won’t be long until the leaves are changing. Soon, the air will cool, everyone will be pulling out their sweaters, and you’ll start to see the telltale signs of fall springing up everywhere.

It’s almost time for pumpkin spice lattes, cooking marshmallows over the open fire, local football games, and fall festivals and festivities.

Here in the Ozarks, fall is truly a beautiful time of the year.

But there’s also the matter of holidays, special occasions, and fall decorations to consider.

Namely—how do you incorporate these end-of-summer themes into your festive decorating plans to ensure that you bring out the full magic of this beautiful time of the year?

That’s a great question.

Here at Linda’s Flowers, we love decorating for the end of summer.

And in this blog post, we’re going to let you in on a few of our favorite decorating ‘secrets’ that we utilize when we decorate our own homes for the beginning of autumn.

1. Use Leaves That Are Brown, Red, And Golden Orange In Color

It won’t be long until the leaves start to change color here in the Ozarks.

And you can double down on this beautiful natural transition by incorporating those same colors and elements into your own decorations at home.

Anything that incorporates autumn leaves will really resonate and capture that ‘end of summer’ magic.

You can capture this with decorations that depict fall colors and themes—but you can also do so with either real or imitation floral decorations that incorporate the traditional fall colors.

2. Use Harvest Themes

As the summer winds down, harvest themes will really come back around.

You can double down on this by decorating with iconic harvest symbols like the cornucopia, baskets of apples, home-baked pies, colored ears of corn, and floral arrangements that give you those red, gold, and amber hues of color.

Hot tip: You can really make use of these themes by buying or creating an ‘end of summer’ or ‘harvest’ wreath for your front door.

This looks amazing, and will really pull those front porch decorations together!

3. Get Homey With Clever Harvest-Themed Table-Top Decorations

One of our favorite ways to arrange this type of decor is to start with something like a basket of food. For best results, you can mix a curved platter with paper-wrapped bread, apples, and grapes—and then place an orange, yellow, and gold floral arrangement either beside it or around it.

You can bring the whole scene together by placing a bottle of wine right beside it. Or, you can go a bit more ‘fall’ with some gourds, or even a small pumpkin!

Feel free to get creative. That’s what this whole process is about!

4. Don’t Be Afraid To Dip Into Some Red, White, And Blue

A lot of people associate our patriotic colors with Independence Day

But the truth of the matter is that these colors are also very appropriate for Labor Day as well.

You can keep the themes a bit more subtle—but feel free to decorate with some red, white, and blue accents.

You can also put a unique ‘end of summer twist’ on this by lighting candles, utilizing tiki torches, and/or even hanging patio lights up in your front and/or back yard.

These are all methods that you can use to tie in the patriotic themes with the vibrant magic of the beginning of autumn.

Conclusion

We hope that this post has given you some amazing ideas about how to make your own labor day and end-of-summer decorations sing with that warm, inviting feeling of autumn.
